Our history

The company’s founder, Sergio Mato, is a native son of Colonia del Sacramento, and currently works as a Math professor at the public high school in said city. The company’s co-founder, Gianella Magrini, also works in Colonia, as a Spanish professor and primary school teacher. She, however, is originally from Conchillas, a town located in the department of Colonia, near Colonia del Sacramento and Carmelo, particularly known for its strong English influence.

Initially, Sergio Mato Real Estate operated from the family residence until, in 1995, its office was opened on 169 Washington Barbot Street in Colonia, where it continues to operate today.

For several years, Sergio Mato Real Estate has been an active member of the Uruguayan Real Estate Chamber. It is also a founding member and sponsor of the Real Estate Chamber of Colonia. The objective of both of these organizations is to promote transparency and professionalism in the real estate market both regionally and throughout the country.

Over the last 25 years, Sergio Mato Real Estate has been one of the most active and relevant players in the real estate market in Colonia del Sacramento. As in the beginning, it remains wholeheartedly committed to property and commercial development in the region.
